Specialist will work across BHK counties with a home office in Houghton.  Services are delivered through case management duties that include tasks such as:  developing and monitoring service plans, coordinating services, team meetings, home visits, and parent training.

U.P. Kids is an organization dedicated to caring for children and building brighter futures. The agency offers a wide array of programs and services for children and families across Michigan's Upper Peninsula. This role serves families in Marquette, Delta, Dickinson and Menominee counties.  

Qualifications:

UP Kids seeks a compassionate and responsible Placement Services Specialist to join our team working in Adoption and Foster Care programs across BHK counties.

A bachelor’s degree in a human service field, good driving record, reliable vehicle and ability to travel in the Upper Peninsula required (mileage reimbursement provided). One or more years’ experience working with families and children preferred.

Services are delivered through case management duties that include tasks such as:  developing and monitoring service plans, coordinating services, team meetings, home visits, and parent training.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  •  Respect the dignity and worth of client families
  •  Develop, coordinate, and implement treatment plans with youth & their families.
  •  Participate in service meetings and reviews, including intake, transfer and discharge meetings
  •  Document meetings, contacts, and case progress.
  •  Conduct initial screenings of foster/adoptive parents.
  •  Assist in conducting home studies and assessing potential foster/adoptive parents.
  •  Assist in the recruitment, licensing and training of parents.
  •  Attend community, supervisory, staffing, and other meetings regarding foster care placements and program development.
  •  Participate in and often lead monthly meetings with foster parents to review youth progress and overall functioning of the foster parents, as well as assist foster parents in designing         behavior interventions and responding to youth behavior.
  •  Participate in inspections at foster homes to review licensing standards and document non-compliances.
  •  Write satisfactory case notes, letters and reports.

Additional information:

Starting salary no less than $43,160/yr.
